Empowering women isn’t just a moral imperative, it’s an economic and social necessity. Within the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), delegates should be committed to fostering inclusive policies, amplifying diverse voices, and dismantling barriers to ensure every woman has the opportunity to realize her full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
TOPIC A: Achieving Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Rural Women and Girls in Developing Countries
The first topic encapsulates the struggles and aspirations of millions who reside in the remote corners of our globe, where the echoes of progress often falter. Women and girls in rural communities confront a myriad of obstacles, ranging from limited access to education and healthcare to entrenched cultural norms that stifle their voices and aspirations. Yet, within these challenges lies an opportunity for transformative change—a chance for delegates to forge pathways toward empowerment, resilience, and inclusion for those who have long been marginalized and overlooked. As delegates gather to deliberate, they are tasked not only with dissecting the root causes of gender disparity but also with charting a course toward tangible solutions that transcend borders and ideologies of patriarchy and feminity.
TOPIC B: Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls in Conflict and Humanitarian Settings
The second topic touches upon the hostility of conflict zones and the upheaval of humanitarian crises where women and girls echo the loudest cries for justice and protection. Yet, too often, their pleas are met with silence. In the fractured landscapes of conflict and humanitarian settings, the preservation of human dignity demands a commitment to preventing violence against women and girls. Delegates are poised to guide the committee towards a future where peace and safety are guaranteed for all despite these politically complicated settings. Efforts should focus on promoting gender-sensitive peacebuilding and conflict resolution strategies that actively involve women in decision-making processes and address the root causes of gender-based violence.
