Delegates,

I am beyond excited to welcome you all to UPMUNC! It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself, Natalia Ramos Bellido, as your Chair for the ECOSOC War of the Triple Alliance Committee. Over the course of this conference, we will delve into one of the most pivotal conflicts in South American history, examining the complex dynamics that shaped the Paraguayan War and exploring the multifaceted issues surrounding it.

Within the War of the Triple Alliance Committee, delegates will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of topics and explore their historical, geopolitical, and socio-economic dimensions. Delving into the causes and consequences of the war, analyzing the alliances, rivalries, and power struggles among the participating nations, delegates will examine the impact of colonization, territorial disputes, nationalism, and economic interests in shaping the conflict.

As for me, I am a sophomore from Mexico City planning to major in Art History with a focus on queer/latinx studies, all on the pre-med track. I did Model UN in high school and instantly fell in love with how fun and engaging the conferences can be, so joining the International Affairs Association and helping staff ILMUNC when I came to Penn were no-brainers for me. Other than Model UN, I’m involved as a board member for both Mex@Penn and Penn for Immigrant Rights.

I can’t wait to see you all put your diplomatic, negotiation, and critical thinking abilities to the test. Until then, feel free to email me with any questions you have regarding the committee and its content!!

Best,

Natalia Ramos Bellido
